Group ride A casual scenic 16 mile ride along the Saranac River and Lake Champlain, passing by historical Clinton Community College, the site of the former Hotel Champlain, which opened in 1890 and served as President McKinley’s summer White House. The ride will also take in the monument to Samuel D. Champlain for which Lake Champlain is named, as well as historical sites that were key to winning the War of 1812 in the Battle of Plattsburgh.
The route is mostly easy riding on bike paths and roads, with one largest hill that climbs 100 feet.

Three optional 3-mile races
In addition to the group ride, there will be three completely optional 3-mile races starting at approximately the 3, 9, and 13 mile points of the basic route. Riders who aren’t racing can relax and cheer on the racers or enjoy the sights until the group ride continues along the basic route.
The first race takes place on the running track near SUNY Plattsburgh Fieldhouse. The second takes place near Clinton Community College and includes the day’s largest hill. The final race is three loops around Oval Park on Lake Champlain.
Event organizer Donald Moore will award gift certificates to Adirondack ElliptiGO for riders who place in the races.
Please note: the races are not part of this ElliptiGO Day event and are not covered by the Global ElliptiGO Riders Club’s insurance policy. The policy covers the basic group ride only.
