9:00AM-Noon: 24-30 mile group ride.

24 mile option – Down to “the Fence” and back: We’ll head south through rolling residential hills (no traffic signals, very light traffic). A mile-long down hill brings us to the multi-use trail to Trestles surfing beach where abandoned Hwy 101 leads into San Onofre State Park. Once out of town the route follows old 101 through the traffic-free park. People choosing to ride 24 miles can turn around at “the Fence” at the park’s south end.

30 mile option – Pulgas and Back: Same as above, but continue on the car-free bike route into Camp Pendleton. Pass the vista point and finish at Las Pulgas at the bottom of the old Hwy 101 pavement. Turn around and retrace the route back to North Beach.

Possible third option: Ride 24 miles south from the start, through Camp Pendleton, finishing at the Metrolink train station in Oceanside. Then return to San Clemente via train (each car has a few places for transporting bicycles/GOs.). Ride organizer Pete will send email about this option 7 to 10 days before the event.

Back at the start/finish in North Beach, enjoy yoga for post ride stretching and relaxation courtesy of certified yogi Austin McKinnon, proprietor of Bicycles San Clemente.

Noon-2:00pm: Post-ride lunch and socializing at: (tentative location)

Beach Hut Deli
1844 N El Camino Real
San Clemente, CA 92672

Our lunch gathering spot is just across the street from the start/finish and has a nice variety of sandwiches and frosty beverages.
