Details of October GO Easy and Cool Down challenges

Following an intense September Team Challenge full of amazing performances, October provides an opportunity take a breather, focus on your training for the World Championship, and welcome the change of seasons. In addition to any October official rides (including the ElliptiGO Rally Weekend and World Championship), here are two challenges to help you add some final GOGO points you might need to reach a 2018 GOGO Award Level:

Each challenge offers 25 points:

  • 25 pts for a total of 150 or more miles in October
  • 25 pts for at least 10 days in October of at least 1 mile

NOTE: Trainer miles are allowed for these challenges.

Details of August GO Steady challenges

Anticipating September’s Team Challenge, August provides three basic month-long challenges. In many places, it’s the hottest month. You can enjoy some relaxing days off, if needed, or fine tune your fitness for the Team Challenge.

Each challenge offers 25 points:

  • 25 pts for a total of 150 or more miles in August
  • 25 pts for a total of 3000 ft of elevation gain in August
  • 25 pts for at least 10 days in August of at least 1 mile

NOTE: Trainer miles are allowed for the distance and days challenges.

Details of July challenges: GOGO IM (Individual Medley) and IECD

July’s GOGO challenge revisits the March, April, May, and June challenges as a medley of one-week mini challenges, with something different each week.

Saturday, July 21st is also International Elliptical Cycling Day (IECD), with extra GOGO points available for any rides on that day.

  • Week 1, July 2-8: DISTANCE
    • 20 pts for 25 miles
    • 30 pts for 50 miles
    • 40 pts for 100 miles

Please note that the start is Monday, July 2, not Sunday July 1.

  • Week 2, July 9-15: ELEVATION*
    • 20 pts for 1000 feet
    • 30 pts for 2500 feet
    • 40 pts for 5000 feet

*Alternative: INCREASED DISTANCE option instead of climbing – 20 pts for 50mi, 30pts for 100mi, 40pts for 150mi

  • Week 3, July 16-22: MINI-EDIM
    • 3 pts for each day of 5 miles
    • 4 pts for each day of 10 miles
    • 6 pts for each day of 20 miles

  • Week 4, July 23-29: #REFLECTION: 8 pts for each ride on Strava with a photo uploaded and a different hashtag in the ride title:
    • #elliptigo
    • #friends
    • #love
    • #indulge
    • #selfie

Note: you may post them in any order.

  • July 21, IECD: 1 pt per mile up to 50 miles.

NOTE: IECD rides may be combined with the weekly challenge, official rides and/or Idai Makaya’s Longest Ride Challenge. For example, a 43 mile official ride on IECD would yield 69 total GOGO points: 20 points (official ride) plus 43 points (IECD) plus 6 points (EDIM).

Details of June challenges

GOGO takes an intensity break in June with five themed weekly goals. Rather than focusing on distance and climbing stats, ride with an “attitude of gratitude” and reflect on
your ElliptiGO experiences.

During any ride take a photo that’s your interpretation of the weekly theme, add it to your Strava post, and include the weekly hashtag (e.g. #beauty) in the title of your ride. You’re welcome to share additional thoughts or explanation in the description of your Strava entry. How does that long open stretch of road represent #fun? What symbolizes #honor to you?

WEEKLY THEMES:

June 1-3. #beauty
June 4-10. #fun
June 11-17. #gratitude
June 18-24. #energy
June 25-30. #honor

Earn up to 25 points for each weekly theme. Post as many times as you like, but only one post is required for 25 points and must be posted with the weekly hashtag in the title before the beginning of the next week. There are no incorrect posts; it’s entirely up to your
interpretation.

GERC and/or ElliptiGO may repost or share some or all of the photos online, so only post photos that you would be comfortable seeing on social media.

Details of May challenges

May 1-31: Every Day in May (EDIM) SOLO and DUO

In EDIM DUO, if on at least 25 different May days you and your partner’s combined mileage totals at least 5 miles, you’ll both earn GOGO points! Partners can alternate days or each do part of the necessary mileage every day … whatever works!

The mileage levels for EDIM SOLO are the same – you’ve just got to achieve them all by yourself!

Point levels are below. Each partner of an EDIM DUO pair gets the specified points, even if one rides much more than the other (though, a rider must ride at least 25 total miles in May to qualify for points).

In addition, any individual (whether SOLO or a DUO team member) who rides at least 5 miles on 25 or more days will receive 25 bonus points. In other words, the same maximum point total is available to both DUO or SOLO riders.

Examples:
1) GOrider1 of a DUO pair rides 12 miles per day for the first 10 days of May, and GOrider2 of the same pair rides 15 miles per day from May 5 through May 31, yielding 31 days of 10+ miles for the pair. GOrider1 receives 175 points for team’s successful completion of 10+ miles every day in May GOrider2 receives 200, gaining the 25 point bonus for riding at least 5 miles on 25 or more days.
2) an EDIM SOLO rider completing 31 days of 10+ miles per day would receive 200 points.

Every Day in May

20+ miles Every Day in May = 225 points
10+ miles Every Day in May = 175 points
5+ miles Every Day in May = 125 points

28 Days in May

20+ miles for 28 days = 200 points
10+ miles for 28 days = 150 points
5+ miles for 28 days = 100 points

25 Days in May

20+ miles for 25 days = 100 points
10+ miles for 25 days = 75 points
5+ miles for 25 days = 50 points

NOTE on trainer rides:Trainer rides are allowed but can contribute a maximum of 5 miles to any SOLO or DUO pair each day. That is, if a SOLO rider does a 12 mile trainer ride, he or she only gets credit for 5 miles. If that rider also does a 16 mile outdoor ride, 21 miles would be credited for the day. For DUO pairs, the combined maximum mileage from trainer rides is 5 miles per day. If one rider rides 10 trainer miles, and the other rides 6 trainer miles, and 6 outdoor miles, the pair would be credited with 11 miles for the day (5 from trainer, 6 from outdoor ride).

BONUS: 10 points if you ride a new ElliptiGO SUB (even just a test ride – you don’t have to own one) and post a photo of it with your ride on Strava (and annotate that ride with “GOGO” so that the Club’s software “notices” the ride). Note: not available to people who got this bonus in April

Details of April challenges

April 2-30: Keep GOing

50 points for a total over 100 miles or 8000 ft during April 2-30
75 points for 200 miles or 15,000 ft
100 points for 400 miles or 30,000 ft
125 points for 600 miles or 40,000 ft

BONUS: 25 points for any one ride in April 2 – 30 that is your longest distance or largest elevation gain since March 1.

BONUS: 10 points if you ride a new ElliptiGO SUB (even just a test ride – you don’t have to own one) and post a photo of it with your ride on Strava (and annotate that ride with “GOGO” so that the Club’s software “notices” the ride)

Note: Properly measured indoor trainer miles are allowed if they are on an ElliptiGO.
