8:45-9:30AM: Riders gather at our meet-up location:

Penguin Statue
Just off Lake Merced Blvd
Lake Merced Park (southeast side of the lake)
San Francisco, CA 94132

Map to location: here

There is a small parking lot near the statue, just off Lake Merced Blvd. It’s unclear whether or not the little driveway/parking area has an official name. But it seems to be referred to as “Lake Merced Drive Park and Walk.”

9:30AM-Noon: 20 mile group ride.

A tour of the South West side of the city, including Golden Gate Park.

Meet at Lake Merced, ride part way around the lake on bike paths or bike and pedestrian paved routes, then to the Great Walkway (Great Highway) closed to cars on weekend, up through Golden Gate Park on the bike route and closed areas (plenty to see) east on Page St., back to the park on the bike path protected by parked cars next to the pan handle, return via the Laguna Honda (reservoir and hospital) bike route, one small loop around the Merced Manor Reservoir, and back to finish circling the lake.

A good likelihood that we may get to experience all of San Francisco’s micro climates. No matter what the weather there are always great views and lots to see and enjoy. Climbing has been minimized, about 850 feet total, with the largest climb about 450 feet. (SF is hilly, this route doesn’t take you up any of the steepest hills.)

Anyone who wants to come on BART can get off at the Daly City BART station and should contact Malinda in advance of ride for either safest/best route or an escort. Ride to lunch is safe and close.

Strava route: here

Noon-2:00PM: Post-ride lunch and socializing at:

Ming Yuan Restaurant
209 Southgate Ave
Daly City, CA 94015

The restaurant is a 4-minute drive or 9-minute bike ride from our start/finish location.

Directions to restaurant: here

From the restaurant’s website: “Established in 2019, one of the best Chinese Cuisine in Daly City. The key to our success is simple: providing quality consistent food that tastes great every single time. We specialize in dim sum and traditional Cantonese wok dishes.”
