Properly measured trainer rides are permitted, but will be credited with no elevation. Credit for all manual entries (no GPS track outdoors, no speed sensor indoors) is limited to 5 miles per day. - May: Complete the Calendar (and EDIM) (210 points maximum)
Ride alone or participate as a DUO. As a DUO you will combine your daily mileage with that of your partner. GOGO will do the matchmaking. You might make a friend halfway around the world! If you’re up for it, ride Every Day In May (EDIM) and earn individual bonus points.
Ride daily mileage equal to (or greater than) a numerical calendar day to fill in a calendar date. You do not have to complete calendar days in order: 1 mile on the 1st, 2 miles on the 2nd, 3 miles on the 3rd and so forth. Instead, fill your calendar in any order: If you GO 35 miles on May 1st, you’ll fill in the spot for May 31st. If you ride 20 miles on May 1st, you will fill in the date for May 20th. If you ride 20 miles again, you will fill in the largest unfilled number below 20: if May 19th and 18th are filled but the 17th is not, you’ll fill the May 17th slot.
Helpful Hint: Ride big early and save the low mileage calendar days for last or for days when work/school/life necessitates quicker, low mileage rides.
You earn 5 points for each calendar day filled in for a maximum of 155 calendar points, e.g. 31 days yields 155 points (31 x 5), while 20 days yields 100 (20 x 5). If you have a partner, you each earn the points. To be eligible for May points, a rider must ride at least 25 total miles during the month.
Bonus point opportunities:
- Participate in a DUO: 5 points.
- Complete your calendar: 10 points.
- EDIM Bonus: Any rider who rides at least 1 mile each day of the month will earn 15 bonus points.
- May individual mileage bonus points will be based on total miles ridden as follows:
- 496+ miles: 25 points
- 400+ miles: 20 points
- 300+ miles: 15 points
- 200+ miles: 10 points
- 100+ miles: 5 points
Properly measured trainer rides are permitted, but will be credited with no elevation.
Important note: There will be no mileage credit allowed for manual entries during the May program.
- June: World Bike Day & GERC 10 Year Anniversary (180 points maximum)
Following the fun (or, to some people, the slog) of EDIM, June’s GO program encourages you to enjoy some leisurely rides, commemorate GERC’s 10 Year Anniversary, and celebrate cycling. Points from each category may be combined in any way to earn a maximum of 150 points:
- 1 point for every 10 miles cumulative distance.
- 1 point for every 250 feet cumulative elevation gain.
- 5 points for every 5 days ridden (minimum of 2 miles is needed to count as a day of riding).
- 5 points for each single ride over 10 miles OR 10 points for each single ride over 20 miles
- 5 points for each single ride over 750 feet of elevation gain OR 10 points for each single ride over 1500 feet of elevation gain
Every ride will be scored for points individually and separately. No double-dipping on distance or elevation points on a per ride basis. As an example, a 25-mile ride with 2500 ft of elevation gain will yield 20 points(not 30 points), 10 for distance and 10 for elevation.
Multiple rides per day are allowed, so you can mix and match distances and elevations to match your own preferences.
World Bicycle Day: In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3rd as World Bicycle Day. The resolution for World Bicycle Day recognizes “the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation.”
So, on any one day only from June 1st through June 7th, GO for a ride and earn 1 point per mile up to 20 miles for a maximum of 20 points and add #worldbikeday somewhere in the title of your Strava post. You may also post a photo, but it is not required.
Celebrating GERC’s 10 Year Anniversary: 10 points/10 miles/10 days. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Global ElliptiGO Riding Club! To commemorate this, you may earn an additional 10 points for riding at least 10 miles per day for any 10 days during the month. These points are in addition to any regular points you may earn.
Throughout June, properly measured trainer rides are permitted, but will be credited with no elevation. Credit for all manual entries (no GPS track outdoors, no speed sensor indoors) is limited to 5 miles per day.
